Kavanah Tech is a division of Kavanah Media, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and business-as-mission endeavor. We build and run the technology Christian mission teams and organizations rely on, so they can spend their time on the people they serve.
Why “Kavanah”
Kavanah (כַּוָּנָה) is the Hebrew word for intention: the direction of the heart behind an act, rather than the act itself. The same words, said two ways, aren’t the same prayer.
We named our work after it on purpose. A dashboard, an inbox or a calendar can’t tell you whether your work matters. What they can do is show you where it is actually going, and give you back the hours you would otherwise lose to exporting spreadsheets, sharing passwords and chasing messages nobody answered.
A stewardship problem, not a technology problem
Most teams doing digital outreach are stitching tools together by hand. They export from the ad platform, export from the chat tool, export from Disciple.Tools, wrestle a spreadsheet into shape, and hand leadership a number nobody fully trusts. Messages wait because one person holds the Page login. A website goes unpatched because nobody on staff runs servers. And boards are asked to accept risks no one has measured.
Real money and real hours go into this work, and the people doing it deserve tools that tell them what it produced and keep them safe while they do it. So we built the ones we kept wishing existed, and we run them ourselves.
How we work
A few commitments that shape everything we build.
Mission organizations first
We serve mission teams and the organizations that send them, nobody else. Mission organizations can ask about sponsored access, and we will tell you honestly when something isn’t the right fit.
We manage the servers
Every product runs on Amazon Web Services in secure U.S. data centers. We don’t own the hardware, but we configure, harden, patch, monitor and back up every server ourselves, because a vendor outage is somebody’s Sunday and data in the wrong hands can be someone’s safety.
Your data stays yours
We hold your information to run the service for you. We don’t sell it, we don’t advertise with it, and we never share one organization’s data with another.
Nothing hidden
Every product is either open source or available for review in a private repository, so your security team can read the code before you trust it with anything.
Who is behind it
Kavanah Media is a Tennessee nonprofit corporation and 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. It works through two divisions:
- Kavanah Tech builds and runs the products on this site: Kavanah Analytics, Kavanah Chat, Kavanah Social and Kavanah Hosting.
- Kavanah Security provides risk management and cybersecurity consulting, including the Risk Management platform.
Because we are a nonprofit, there is no investor waiting for us to make money from your data and no acquisition on the horizon that quietly rewrites the terms. Our Security page and Privacy Policy say exactly how we handle what you trust us with.
