Kavanah Hosting

A website that stays up, so your team doesn’t have to run a server.

We host and look after WordPress and static sites for mission organizations and their field teams. Isolated, patched on a schedule, backed up every night and watched around the clock.

Pricing is per site and quoted on request.

What every site gets

The same baseline on every site we host. No tiers of safety.

Its own space

Every site runs under its own user with its own PHP pool. A problem on one site stays on that site.

Fast by default

A Redis object cache and a server-side page cache, set up when the site is built.

Nightly backups

Every site is backed up each night to AWS storage and kept for 90 days. Restores are one click from our dashboard.

Security monitoring

Wordfence with its Intelligence threat feed, a firewall, and fail2ban to shut out repeat attackers.

Patching on a schedule

Server updates and WordPress core, plugin and theme updates are checked and applied on a schedule, not when someone remembers.

HTTPS that renews itself

Let’s Encrypt certificates are issued for you and renewed automatically. We also manage your DNS.

Mail that arrives

Transactional mail — form notifications, password resets — is sent through a proper mail service, not the web server.

Uptime watching

Your site is checked every few minutes. If it goes down, we get an alert and start looking.

A view of your own sites

Your own dashboard shows your sites, backups, monitoring and security checks.

How we run it

Four steps, and the last one is the one most hosts skip.

Onboard and migrate

We move your existing site, or build a new one, set up DNS and issue the certificate. You check it before anything goes live.

Harden

Firewall, isolated user and pool, fail2ban, security plugin and mail are configured before launch, not after the first scare.

Monitor

Uptime, backups, certificates and security checks are watched from one dashboard. Problems reach us before they reach you.

Prove recovery

A backup nobody has restored is only a hope. We test restores of the sites we host, so we know what recovery looks like before you need it.

Who it’s for

Mission organizations and the field teams they send. Teams that need a site to stay up in places where they can’t run servers themselves — where there is no one on staff to patch, no reliable connection to restore from, and no time for a Sunday outage.

We also host Disciple.Tools sites alongside WordPress, set up the same way.

Questions

Can you migrate my existing site?

Yes. We move WordPress sites from your current host, set up DNS and the certificate, and let you review the copy before the switch. Tell us where it lives now and we’ll say what the move involves.

Where are the servers?

Every site runs on Amazon Web Services in a U.S. region, inside AWS’s secure data centers. We don’t own the hardware, but we set up, harden, patch and monitor every server ourselves. If data location matters to your team, ask us and we’ll be specific.

Who has access?

Access is scoped to the people who need it. Each site has its own user, and your team sees only your own sites in the dashboard.

What happens if a server dies?

Your site is restored from its nightly backup onto a healthy server, and the sites that weren’t affected keep running. We monitor backups so we know a good one exists.

Do you host non-WordPress sites?

Yes. We host static sites, and Disciple.Tools sites. If your project is something else, ask and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can run it well.

How is it priced?

Per site, and quoted on request.

Tell us about your site

Start with a conversation. Tell us what you run, where it lives and what keeps going wrong, and we’ll say whether Kavanah Hosting fits.
